Η ανάγκη αξιοποίησης όλων των κοιτασμάτων πετρελαίου και φυσικού αερίου του πλανήτη, οδήγησε στην κατασκευή εγκαταστάσεων σε σημεία όπου οι καιρικές ή οι περιβαλλοντολογικές συνθήκες είναι ακραίες. Για το λόγο αυτό οι κατασκευές αυτές υποβάλλονται σε πλήθος δοκιμών, με σκοπό την πρόληψη ατυχημάτων και την σωστή λειτουργία τους.

OverView Corrosion in the annulus area of flexible riser pipe is a major concern for its users. It can cause a reduction of the fatigue life in the armor layers of the flexible riser. MISTRAS has developed test procedures, flaw detection algorithms and real time online monitoring analysis to evaluate the integrity of flexible risers while in service. The development of this technology and its use was the result of over two years of laboratory testing as well as inservice monitoring to qualify the technique with manufacturers and end users of flexible risers in the deep water oil industry. Inspection Technique The rupture of wires in the internal and external armor layers of a flexible riser is caused by fatigue resulting in wires breaking in the riser connector and platform. Another problem associated with the fatigue of flexible risers is that they may detach from the platform connector due to the lack of strength. This technology is based on detecting the energy released during the breaking of a wire with Acoustic Emission (AE) sensors mounted on the riser. This energy indicates an anomaly in the integrity of the risers’ internal structure. The technology uses an indicator, “THE RUPTURE INDEX”, which provides a measure of the amount of broken wires and the region where they occurred. Remote online monitoring uses certified intrinsically safe (IS) equipment on board the platform. The results are periodically updated with a secure real time remote integrity monitoring display via the Internet. Access is limited to authorized users.
